UGMA members are drawn from across the country, currently, comprising medium and small grain milling companies that operate mills in Mombasa, Machakos, Nairobi, Thika, Kisumu, Mwingi amongst others. The members support UGMA financially through a membership fee and annual subscriptions. In return, UGMA is able to offer its members a sound value for their money through expert linkages and operations within the confines and needs of our members. To be approved to join, potential members should be actively involved in the handling and processing of grain products.
MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENT
- Technical Regulation Number 62 of 2012 published under The Food, Drugs and Chemical Substances Act requires all packaged wheat flour, maize meal, and edible fats and oils to be fortified with vitamin and mineral
- KEBS has directed all manufacturers of these products to ensure compliance with the regulation as a prerequisite of acquiring any of its quality marks
- KEBS has also directed its Surveillance, Quality Assurance, and Inspectors to ensure full compliance of products with the respective standards
